Home Depot Donates $10,000 to Martin Luther King Jr. Park Soccer Field Renovation ProjectThe Home Depot Foundation has donated $10,000 to Partners of Parks for the renovation of the soccer field at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Street in Long Beach. The soccer field is used year-round by the community and is currently in poor conditon. Turf areas are uneven, compacted and worn, which creates unsafe playing conditons. "The renovation is long overdue", claims Partners of Parks Executive Director Diane Wiley. "We are delighted that Home Depot is interested in supporting Parks & Recreation with such a generous contribution." The project involves two phases, and the field is anticipated to be completed and ready for use fairly quickly.
The Home Depot Foundation is committed to improving the overall health of our communities, which includes healthy affordable housing, the planting and restoration of trees along streets, in parks and schoolyards; the building and refurbishment of community play spaces; and the revitaliation of school communities.
